Hike: Curbar Edge

For the first Hike of 2025, my group of friends and I walked a 10km circuit around Curbar Edge, a stretch of gritstone moorland in Derbyshire’s Peak District.

Our starting location wasn’t far from the Edge itself, meaning we found some great views after mere minutes of walking. The views are my favourite part of our hikes. Looking out over the hills and fields as they stretch for miles in every direction instills me with a sense of overwhelming gratitude. I’m so lucky to have this natural landscape on my doorstep.

The route we chose was mostly removed from roads or buildings however, near our routes halfway-point, we stopped at The Grouse Inn for a quick snack, drink, and toilet break. We did have hopes for spotting Highland Cows at this point in the hike but no luck.

After a short elevation that briefly soured the mood, we reached the White Edge bench mark which provided great views over the moorland to the east.
